Jarvis Brook Primary: “Pupils love learning at this welcoming school”

Staff at Jarvis Brook Primary are celebrating a very successful outcome from their latest Ofsted inspection, which confirms that the school continues to be ‘Good’.  The ungraded inspection report describes very strong practice throughout the school, following a visit in May 2025.

Inspectors were especially impressed with the pupil’s behaviour, their ‘excellent attitudes’ to learning and ‘the sense of calm that pervades the school’. Pupils were repeatedly praised throughout the report; inspectors described how Jarvis Brook pupils ‘love learning at this welcoming school’. Inspectors reported that the pupils concentrated well, worked hard in lessons, listened intently to their teachers and were enthusiastic in their approach to their learning.  They go on to say that the pupils behave impeccably, both in lessons and around the school.

The report describes how staff at Jarvis Brook have ‘exceptionally high expectations’ of pupils’ work and behaviour throughout the school. Inspectors praised the ‘ambitious curriculum’ and the school’s staff for the quality of their work, led by effective professional development.

At Jarvis Brook Primary the youngest children get a strong start to their school education.  The ‘well embedded routines and high expectation in the early years’ means that ‘children in Reception Year are enthusiastic about their learning’ and ‘concentrate carefully on their work’. This continues throughout the school.

Headteacher Jacqueline Zadeh said, ‘We are all very pleased that the inspectors commended our school so highly’.  ‘Our children are the greatest testament to our work. As a staff team, ensuring our children feel cared for and comfortable wellbeing-wise is a priority.  We offer a curriculum with rich learning experiences, so children are encouraged, enabled and empowered to be the very best people they can be. Inspectors rightly identified this clearly’.

‘I am delighted that inspectors were able to highlight the many strengths that Jarvis Brook has,’ said Mark Cole, CEO of Tenax Schools Trust. ‘As an ungraded inspection, we were thrilled to see the words ‘excellent’ and ‘exceptional’ in the report’. Headteachers and those who inspect know that those phrases are used to capture things that are the best they can be. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes are a credit to the school and of course, their families. A wonderful report’.
