Richard Tyson

Director for Workforce Development & Ethos

Richard is our Director for Workforce Development and Ethos. From setting up and leading Teach Kent & Sussex SCITT and the Kent Teaching School Hub, he has a wide range of knowledge and expertise in professional development. Previously, Richard was part of the leadership team at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School and played a key role in developing and shaping the school’s ethos and vision. As a former SIAMS inspector he has worked with colleagues and schools within and beyond the trust in providing support for schools in shaping cultures which allow all to truly flourish.

Richard is passionate about ensuring that every child is provided with an education in which doors of opportunity and choice are consistently opened. He works within the trust to ensure that expert teachers and support staff are recruited, trained and developed to continue to make this a reality for all.

He qualified as a secondary school teacher of history beginning his career in Crawley. He continues to maintain an avid interest in history and in the effective teaching of the subject.
