
It is a privilege to be the CEO of the Tenax family of schools. There is much to be proud of and there is much we can still and will strengthen over time.
I have had the pleasure of working for a Regional Director in the country’s largest trust and as the CEO of a Diocesan trust of 26 schools in the East Midlands. I have also supported a number of trusts, through the Department for Education’s former program to provide system led support. Both Tenax and my former trust have provided support to the National Institute of Teaching’s new CEO program.
I mention these things here, simply to highlight the insight that affirms that every trust is very different, in what it does and how it does it. Trusts remain a relatively new construct in the timeline of state education. The system is learning, evolving and maturing. We are currently experiencing first-hand, how a changing in political direction can also impact on trusts.
At Tenax we are focused on both what we do and how we do it. We carry ourselves with ambition and humility. We believe that we can do more together than on our own. This is particularly relevant given the challenges every school and trust faces linked to funding, staff workload and working within a national framework to support SEND pupils/students and their families, which is demonstrably not working as we would all want and hope.
