Leybourne St Peter and St Paul CE Primary: success across all areas in first Ofsted inspection under new framework

We are pleased to announce that Leybourne St Peter and St Paul CE Primary Academy was inspected by Ofsted on the 6th and 7thJanuary 2026, and the report highlights the many strengths of the school in meeting the expected standard across all areas.

This new ‘expected standard’ represents what Ofsted describes as a high standard, ensuring children receive everything they need and deserve.

The new style of Ofsted report describes what it is like to be a pupil at Leybourne.

“Pupils are proud to be members of this school and describe it as a place where they feel like part of a family… Pupils feel safe because they are listened to and supported.  They are confident that staff help them be the best version of themselves.”

The report highlights the work of the school in securing pupils’ academic success.

“Pupils enjoy their learning and achieve well… In class staff know what works well for pupils and provide this, so barriers to learning are reduced.”

The report also reflects the culture of the school in securing effective learning for all pupils.

“Leaders and staff know pupils needs well. Staff make appropriate adaptations to teaching so that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) can follow the curriculum successfully.’

Tina Holditch, Leybourne’s Headteacher said, “I am delighted to receive a report which reflects the school’s work and improvement over time. The new expected standard is a challenging standard to meet which is described by Ofsted as the school providing a high-quality education. We were pleased to receive the report and read the contextual comments, reflecting what inspectors saw in our very special school. I was especially pleased to see it noted in the report that children’s welfare and outcomes are at the centre of our decision making and school life.”

This is the first Tenax school to be inspected on the revised Ofsted framework.  The report comments on the effective work of the trust in supporting the school improve.

“The trust is a robust partner in school improvement. It maintains oversight of the school’s work and provides effective support for improvement.”

Mark Cole, Tenax CEO said, “I would like to congratulate Tina, the staff, local committee members, and the whole Leybourne community. As the first Tenax school to be inspected under the new framework, Leybourne has demonstrated what meeting Ofsted’s expected standard, a high standard of education, looks like in practice. Achieving this across all areas is a significant achievement that recognises the hard work, dedication and ambition of the entire staff team in ensuring the very best for their pupils.”
